I recently published a post featuring 7 free chrome apps and extensions for the small business owner. Now, I didn’t think it was fair that only Chrome users had new tools and toys to play with, so I decided to do one for FireFox as well.
Fireshot
Receipts, design or marketing ideas, titles, sales letters, research…As a small business owner and content creator, I’m always taking screenshots. I’ve yet to find a screenshot add on better than FireShot. It’s fast, quick, and easy to use. I think my favorite feature is the browser button and right-click option that makes it super convenient. If you’re looking to save web pages and sites specifically, you might prefer ScrapBook.
MeasureIt
Having to find replacement banners, headers, and graphics when I don’t know the correct size has always given me nightmares. I can’t just look at a graphic and know the size, but an addon called MeasureIt has solved these problems and made measuring details on websites a breeze.
Gmail Manager
If you have more than one Gmail account or use multiple labels, the standard Gmail notifier just isn’t going to cut it. Enter Gmail Manager. You can access all of your labels, drafts, new mail, and get previews right in your browser. There’s no more having to keep tabs open, no more switching back and forth for junk mail, and you can get instant access to exactly what you need.
InstantFox
While researching things online, I often have to jump to one page, find a terms, search it, and jump to another. This can be a huge pain, but I have found a few tools that really make this easy:
- InstantFox — Chrome lets me search right from the address bar, but FireFox doesn’t. This fixes that problem.
- Apture Highlights — If you want to search a certain phrase, simply highlight it with your mouse and Apture will pull up a wealth of related information.
MouseControl
If you’re not a fan of keyboard shortcuts, but are tired of wasting time using menus, try MouseControl. They take a bit to get used to, but you can do almost anything with your mouse and this addon, including reopening closed tabs.
QuickFox Notes
In-browser note taking with a sync feature is a must if you spend time pulling information off the Web or find you often get ideas while looking at something else. QuickFox Notes does exactly that and works with a number of sync programs and databases, so you can access your notes virtually anywhere. You can create quick notes about just about anything and never have to worry about losing them again!
FoxySpider
If you find yourself digging through a website looking for a particular video or rich media file and wishing you had a crawler that would do it all for you, FoxySpider may just be the answer you’ve been looking for. This add-on will crawl entire sites in search of a particular file type and compile its findings in an easy to use gallery.
