The small business owner has tons of hats to wear and far too many jobs to do to be unorganized or make extra steps. And since many of us spend most of our time with our browsers open, apps, addons & extensions are one of the best ways to make our lives easier. Here are 7 free ones for Chrome you might find useful.
Pivitol Tracker
Sometimes, we don’t need collaboration software with a ton features and all the bells and whistles. Pivitol Tracker is a simple project management tool that makes it easy for everyone to stay updated on what’s going on in real time, sort of like a story board. If you prefer open chat rooms, but need to save and share files, images, and other files, try Vyew.
GPanion and Google Shortcuts
I used to use Google Shortcuts for Firefox when I used the browser exclusively. When I made the switch to Chrome, however, it wasn’t available. That’s when I made the switch to Gpanion and I love it. (Google Shortcuts is now available for Chrome as well.)
Office Web App
If you love Microsoft Office, but need something a little more portable, try Office Web App for a quick link to the online version. If you like distraction-free text-editor/word processor, try Write Space.
PHPanywhere
There are also tools for developers or site owners who do a bit of coding. PHPanywhere is an excellent IDE for PHP, HTML & CSS. It’s all real time and even has its own FTP client.
Piknik
Photo editors are also important, but having to jump back and forth from your browser to the editor can be a real pain, particularly if the image just needs a few quick adjustments. Piknic for Chrome is excellent. And if you need a screen capture tool to get your images, Screen Capture by Google works great!
Scribble
“Stickies on Steroids” is right! Manage all of your notes and important bits of information with Scribble, an online and offline application. You can attach notes, organize them however you’d like, and access them from anywhere.
LovelyCharts
How many times a day do you think about making (or need to make) a flowchart, wireframe, sitemap, or other type of diagram? LovelyCharts lets you do it right from Chrome.
